Los Altos de Sucre is a beautiful mountain town located in the Turimiquire massif at an elevation of 600 to 800 mts (2,000 to 2,600 ft) above sea level. It has a population of over 8,000 inhabitants. It sits only 30 minutes from Puerto La Cruz and 1 hour from Cumaná. Los Altos de Sucre hosts a variety of handcraft shops, Creole candy shops, lodges, restaurants and hiking services.

Group hikes begin in the early morning allowing you to enjoy the other attractions of the town during the rest of the day.

We have selected some of the most popular routes. If you want to share any one in particular or more information about our services; don't hesitate to ask any of our Guides.

We accept groups of at least 2 persons for any hike, guided visit or camping. Appropriate clothing and gear is recommended.

Hikes leave every Sunday - or any other weekday if you have made reservations - around 8:00 am; you should arrive at SENDERISMO SUCRE headquarters about 1/2 hour before departure. We are located at Main Road #190, accross the road from the Vista Montaña Lodge.

El Boquete

Walk among coffee plantations and forests, cliffs and caves.

El Saltico - Mirador

Walk among the forest and creeks, arriving at a covered lookout. (We can cater meals and or parties at these installations)

La Silleta

Grassy mountain with a spectacular view of the Caribbean Sea and the Islands of the Mochima National Park.

Medianía-Pueblo Nuevo

Abandoned village in the mountains full of flowers and refreshing views.

Cogollal-Los Bajos

Intricate path following a mountain creek arriving to a 15 mts (25 ft) waterfall and a crystalline pool.
